Considering Transformers Legends debuted on Android a while ago, why did it take this long to bring the game to iOS?
We have been refining the game to make sure that we deliver the best gameplay experience possible for iOS players.
Was there any particular strategy involved with bringing the game to Android first?
Many DeNA titles launch first on one platform - either on Google Play or the App Store to allow us to iterate on the game before we make a big marketing push on both platforms.
Any particular numbers or piece of data you can share from the Android version?
Android players appear to be loving the game. The engagement time has been off the charts when we run in-game episodes, which are limited time events where players can win limited edition cards. We recently launched two episodes and we're really excited about some of the upcoming episodes planned; we're using actual storylines from the original cartoon as inspiration.
What can iOS users expect from the iPhone and iPad Transformers: Legends?
The development team has a lot of big fans of the Transformers franchise, so we're particularly excited about the game's card artwork. The character cards look great on all devices, especially with the retina display and gyroscope. The team was determined to add an extra something to the cards to bring them to life. I believe with the Parallax effects on the Rare and Super Rare cards we have achieved that goal. Turning the card into a Transformable card is also a great game element that blends well with the intellectual property. I recommend that players Trans-scan a character, so they can see the Transforming effect; plus, it will also boost their stats in battle.
Will this version contain new content, or did you make the iOS and Android game equal across both platforms?
Both versions are the same. Players will also be able to access their accounts across platforms.
How has fan feedback played a role in the evolution of this game?
We care a lot about our players and we listen to all of their feedback. The players have helped shape the game into its current form. As we bring the game to more devices, we're looking forward to continuing that relationship with our fans. It's so important to us that we even have a "Feedback" button in the game for any players to leave comments. We also have a great player relations team standing by, so if any player has questions about the game, please don't hesitate to ask.
Is there anything users continue ask for?
In-game events have been the most popular request from players. Another big request has been for more missions, so we're hard at work adding more cards and missions to the game. We also have some characters that aren't yet in the game coming soon. Thankfully, this wasn't the case. DeNA used this time to make tweaks behind the scenes, and according to producer Tom Hess, iOS players have plenty to look forward to, especially when it comes to viewing these impressive-looking cards on their Retina displays.
